BJP workers vandalise residence of Patnaik's private secretary

According to report, 30 activists of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM), with party flags arrived at the official residence of the private secretary and shouted slogans against him.

"The protestors manhandled me and ransacked the flower pots inside the premises", one of the security personnel posted at Pandian's official residence told mediapersons. While Pandian was absent, his IAS officer wife Sujata R Karthikeyan and their two children were inside the house when the BYJM activists resorted to the vandalism. "Police should take action against those involved in the incident", said Deb. "We will not allow anyone violating the law here", said Twin City Police Commissioner YB Khurania who rushed to the spot after getting information.

BJD spokesperson and parliamentarian Pratap Deb said the attack was "unfortunate and it exposed the real mindset of BJP leaders". The incident took place when Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik was addressing a public rally in Odisha's Balasore when a woman from the crowd threw eggs at the chief minister.

The incident was widely condemned by the CM, the Congress and associations of Indian Administrative Service (IAS) and Odisha Administrative Service officers. Samal demanded strong action against the perpetrators and instigators in the incident.

They also hurled cow dung at the main gate accusing the official of working for the ruling BJD and interfering in political affairs, the police said.

On the other hand, the saffron party has alleged that BJD leader and minister Snehangini Churia has used the government vehicle for electioneering.

Samajwadi Party State president Rabi Behera, in a letter to DG of Police RP Sharma, demanded that the BJP attackers be booked under the National Security Act (NSA). "It's truly shocking", Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik said.
