Lopez scores 20 and Lakers top Thunder 108-104

Thunder: Host the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday.

But the words were clear, as was the intent.

Oklahoma City Thunder forward Paul George (13) knocks.

"In his latest Patreon column, Vecsey says George is "committed to re-signing with the Oklahoma City Thunder" in the offseason instead of bolting for his hometown Los Angeles Lakers, the move many have expected George to make".

The Lakers had lost 11 straight in Oklahoma City.

"Well, I mean I'm happy here", George said. "It's why I was trying to get to the line".

Against the Lakers in Los Angeles, fans chanted "We want Paul!" at George during the second half, with him saying after the game he didn't hear the chants. Andrew Harrison had a strong performance with a team-high 23 points, while Marc Gasol added 20 points, six rebounds, and five assists.

George had taken a look back at the game, he said, in the days since.

"I wanted to see what I was missing, opportunities I was missing [against the Lakers]".

"Tonight, I thought I got my rhythm and stayed in my rhythm and played my game, and again, I thought we all - second game with us being together - I thought there was a little more chemistry", he said. He made 10 of 24 shots as Westbrook was sidelined with a sprained left ankle and Anthony sat out with a sprained right ankle.

"With as hard as it was to put the ball in the basket, we kept trying to battle and fight defensively and did some good things", Thunder coach Billy Donovan said.

Both suffered their injuries against the Warriors last Tuesday.

"Don't give into the fact this is a long road trip and we are playing against a really good team", Walton said.

The Thunder bolted out of the gate with an 8-0 run to start the second half that included 3-pointers by George and Felton.

The Lakers shot 42 of 96 from the field and 10 of 31 from three-point distance. He had been averaging 19.3 points, 4.9 rebounds, 6.5 assists, and 1.2 steals in January prior to getting shut down, and dropped 29 points with 13 rebounds in his first meeting against the Thunder. JayMychal Green added 14 points and 12 rebounds while Tyreke Evans finished with 12 points after sitting out the previous five games due to a possible trade.

The Thunder will be better if and when Abrines, Patterson, Grant, Huestis and whomever else makes shots, too.

Still, George was the driving force behind a win the Thunder controlled nearly from the start, leading by as many as 28 points.
