Mkhitaryan has no excuses for United struggles

As you can imagine, United fans on social media have spent the afternoon mocking Arsenal supporters for getting excited about Mkhitaryan too early.

It was an afternoon to forget for Mkhitaryan, however, as he was replaced after 65 minutes in what was an ineffective display against Arsenal's fierce rivals, with the Armenian squandering possession on a number of occasions.

Rumours circulated that the 29-year-old was staying behind after Arsenal training to help out in the striker's drills.

The Gunners completed the signing of the Gabon global from Borussia Dortmund on transfer deadline day, for a fee believed to be worth in the region of £60 million, and he made an instant impact for his new club, scoring on his debut during his side's 5-1 win over Everton on Saturday. "They are a very competitive team with a lot of quality and sure, it will be a hard game, an unbelievable game and it's going to demand our best performance to win". "We won three trophies in a year and a half, it's not every club that does that".

"I know that, at the moment, we perform well, we feel strong and we're not scared to play any team, be it Arsenal or whichever team it is".

If people say that I have not had enough success [at Manchester United], it is their opinion, but I can say that I had a lot of success at the club. It was a different style of play to what Dortmund played. I think it's similar characteristics and quality.

He also adds his time at Manchester United was a success and states the fact that he scored and won in the Europa League Final.

His future at the Emirates Stadium beyond the summer is uncertain, with the Frenchman having scored just once in his last 12 Premier League appearances.

Aaron Ramsey roamed forward to form a fluid quartet - scoring his first career hat-trick - while Aubameyang sank deeper to link with the midfield. Maybe Mkhitaryan would have been better off on the right flank?

Henrikh Mkhitaryan provided three assists on his full Arsenal debut. Now there's a player who has never gone missing in a big game.

Arsenal now have an abundance of creative talent in midfield, with Mkhitaryan, Ozil and Wilshere at their disposal.
