Stranger Things 3 episode count may surprise you

Stranger Things: Season 2's plot synopsis "It's 1984 and the citizens of Hawkins, Indiana are still reeling from the horrors of the Demogorgon and the secrets of Hawkins Lab".

TVLine has learned exclusively that Netflix's '80s phenom will produce eight episodes in Season 3, down one installment compared to Season 2's nine-episode haul but in line with Season 1's total. Not everybody particularly loved the "Lost Sister" episode, and it's undoubtedly the most divisive, but it did serve a goal, and the Duffer brothers stood by their decision to send Eleven off on her own for a full episode. We don't think that the third season is going to premiere until 2019 when you think about the amount of time that goes into making each season.

All of the regular cast will be back for "Stranger Things" season 3 and there will undoubtedly be some new surprises as well as the hit series gets ready to kick off production in just about two months time.

The introduction of Kali in Season 2 confirmed that there are other kids with special powers in the show's universe and it's possible that one or more of them might pop up in Season 3. Usually when a show is as successful Stranger Things, the episode count increases.

No new cast members have been announced yet, but the new season will see the return of Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Finn Wolfhard, Noah Schnapp, Millie Bobby Brown, Caleb McLaughlin, Gaten Matarazzo, Cara Buono, Natalie Dyer, Charlie Heaton, Joe Keery, Dacre Montgomery, and Sadie Sink. "We're [going to be] dealing with forces of evil that are new". For more viewing options, take a look at our midseason TV premiere guide.
