Bengaluru Building Collapse: Three dead, many injured

At least four people were killed and 15 feared trapped under the debris after an under-construction building collapsed at Sarjapur Road in Kasuvanahalli on Thursday. Until now, around six workers have been rescued.

Mayor Sampath Roy was quoted by The News Minute as saying that the building owners had constructed five storeys while they had sanction to construct just three. More people are suspected to be trapped in the debris and the administration has started a rescue operation.

"Three people have died and another person is critically injured". Officials of the National Disaster Force are also expected to reach the spot shortly.

This collapse comes on the back of multiple instances of building bye law violations. The police officials and the personnel from the State Disaster Relief Force are at the accident site to rescue those trapped.

Deputy commissioner of police of Whitefield division, Abdul Ahad said the building belonged to one Rafique from HSR Layout.

Raj said the building collapsed because of weak foundation and action will be taken against the owner and the contractor. "We are gathering more information".

The building was under construction for over six years and was abandoned after the construction stopped two years ago.
