Chinese Communities Worldwide Prepare To Welcome The Year Of The Earth Dog

At The Grand Canal Shoppes at The Venetian and The Palazzo, guests can help kick off the New Year on February 16 with festivities that include a fan dance above the Atrium's waterfall at 4 p.m.

The Chinese New Year takes place during the period of the Spring Festival, which is China's most important festival.

Chinese astrologers predict that 2018 will be a positive year financially for both - individuals affected by the zodiac sign and people in general.

"Mysteries of China" is a film that tells the story of ancient China, its first emperor and the literal foundation of modern China.

Most Chinese grocery stores stock red packets in the lead up to Chinese New Year. On Saturday only, "Mysteries of China" will be available for a special discounted rate of $5 per ticket for ages 3 and up. What you can expect in Buddhist temples are lighting incense, trying special temple-made Chinese food, enjoying attractive lanterns and hearing some chanting. It was also a time to bring family together for feasting.

The spokesman said the Chinese New year celebration has significantly contributed to further enhancing cultural relations and people-to-people bond between the two countries.

This time of year is when the Chinese celebrate their lunar new year, an occasion used to celebrate mythical deities and Chinese culture.

That means taking action, jumping on opportunities, and not pushing back what you can do today to tomorrow are just a couple of the tenants you should live by for this year... and every other year. This year it will fall on Friday, March 2, 2018. Before the Chinese New Year comes, it is customary for people to completely clean their houses to get rid of bad fortune from the old year and decorate their tidy houses, all with an atmosphere of rejoicing and celebration. In northern China, the common dishes are steamed fish, dumplings, roasted duck or chicken, while in the south sometimes people celebrate with hot pot, which contains a variety of vegetables, mushrooms, meatballs and meat. The fortunate children are traditionally given red envelopes filled with money. People start visiting temples on New Year's Eve, around midnight. Don't forget to send her some New Year greetings!

The New Year time is one of the busiest seasons for Buddhist temples.
