Facebook gets personal with new lists update

The new way of posting status is called "Lists". But, keep an eye out under the "What's On Your Mind" status to see if you got the new update.

Lists along with the other new features being created and applied are designed to promote "meaningful connections between people rather than passive consumption of content", Facebook said about the new feature. According to Chief Executive Mark Zuckerberg, the company's priority this year is to make sure the site is "good for people's well-being", though he has conceded that this change may mean users spend less time on the platform. Lists can then be customized with coloured backgrounds and emojis.

At the time of this article the new list feature is only available on Android powered devices, for users of the iPhone they able to view other lists but can not make their own any yet.

Facebook is getting a status update with a new feature called lists.

The new Facebook feature allows friends to copy one another's lists and offer their own thoughts on the list through the comments and rankings section.

The new update is part of an attempt for Facebook to create a more personal timeline for users.

As of now, Lists is only available to select users, but the feature is currently being rolled out globally to a wider audience. The company is projected to further lose around 2.1 million such users more this year.

The new list feature is somewhat reminiscent of the now-defunct app. But when it does, you'll be able to create lists that can be personalized with different colors and emoji and organized via bullet points or numbers.

Earlier this year, the Facebook CEO revealed that his big goal for 2018 was to make sure our Facebook usage is "time well spent".

Here are some suggestions for list topics you might want to post on Facebook: Best memes, your personal workout regime, 10 places you want to visit, and best free Netflix movies. Facebook has not said when it expects all users to gain access to the feature. When you are happy with your list, tap the Share button in the top-right corner.
