Indian actress Priya Varrier faces FIR for 'hurting Muslim sentiments'

The rising Malayalam star Priya Prakash Varrier became an overnight sensation with her viral video. On February 9, the makers had released the song 'Manikya Malaraya Poovi', composed by Shaan Rahman and sung by Vineeth Sreenivasan.

Recently there were reports of a fringe organisation raising objection against the lyrics of the song alleging that the words hurt the sentiments of the Muslim group.

As part of their investigation, the police will take the opinion of some Islamic clerics on this after getting a translation of the song, he said.

Khan, however, said, "I would have liked it if the name of the Prophet's wife was not there".

Businessman Zaheer Ali Khan who also rushed to the police with his complaint demanding that either the song be removed from the film or the lyrics be changed. "Remove that scene from the song and the film", he said.

Oru Adaar Love, directed by Omar Lulu, is scheduled to release on March 3.

Owing to oodles of unexpected fame coming over to Priya, her parents had to send her to a hostel.

The song, gone viral on social media through debutant actor Priya Varrier's famous wink at the hero in the movie, was initially planned to be pulled out of YouTube and other digital platforms in defernce to "religious sentiments". Her Instagram account got verified and with just less than 100 posts, Priya has over 2.8 million followers now. "At that time they never condemn such incidents or file any kind of FIR", she said.

The Oru Adaar Love starring Priya Prakash Varrier, Siyadh Shajahan and Noorin Shereef is all set to hit the silver Screen on 1st March 2018. "Oru Adaar Love" is a romantic Comedy and has Siyadh Shahjahan and Noorin Shereef sharing space with Priya.
