The Argentine manager penned a new five-year deal in 2016 worth £5.5m a year.

Real Madrid are still planning to lure one Spurs star to the Bernabeu in the summer, though, with Toby Alderweireld emerging as a target for the reigning La Liga champions.

Spurs are likely to be reluctant to lose Alderweireld to a direct Premier League rival, though.

Alderweireld is now holding talks with Tottenham over a new contract, with his current deal due to expire in 2019, though a clause triggering an additional 12 months will be activated should no extension be forthcoming, according to The Guardian.

Adding Alderweireld would make sense for United.

Although the Portuguese manager bought in Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof, Toby Alderweireld represents a more experienced option.

Manchester United's Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is preparing for a move to the MLS by looking at houses in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles. The 36-year-old has struggled with injuries this season and hasn't played for Mourinho's side since the 2-2 draw with Burnley on Boxing Day.

Speculation surrounding the future of Tottenham Hotspur defender Toby Alderweireld continued to intensify today with the news that Real Madrid have now entered the race for his signature.

Shaw has worked his way back into the Man Utd picture at left-back, and is keen to extend a deal that expires after next season.
