Greatest American Hero Reboot Casts Hannah Simone in Lead Role

Greatest American Hero Reboot Casts Hannah Simone in Lead Role

"Fresh Off The Boat" creator Nahnatchka Khan and writer-producer Rachna Fruchbom are set to serve as executive producers of the half-hour comedy.

And those things are all still true, but now it seems the new Greatest American Hero will be yet another desperate network play for fading nostalgia affection starring Hannah Simone.

Simone comes to the pilot after seven years on New Girl and roles in films such as Killing Gunther, Band Aid, Flock of Dudes and Old Boy.

The original show told the story of a teacher named Ralph Hanley who ends up receiving a special suit from aliens that gives him superhuman abilities.

The British actress will play an Indian-American woman in her 30s who loves to drink, party, and sing karaoke because she hasn't found her goal in life-but everything changes when she's entrusted with a suit that gives her superpowers for the objective of saving the world. While we've heard buzz for years about a potential new Greatest American Hero, we never really got the sense that the buzz was going into overdrive. "Meera may have finally found objective, but the world has never been in more unreliable hands".

Deadline has word on The Greatest American Hero remake casting Hannah Simone in the lead role, and they even have details on how her character will be different from the original iteration of the series. He also starred in the ABC pilot "The Trustee" last season. (You remember the classic "Believe It or Not" theme song, right?) Hero is just one of the many reboots and revivals in the works for next season, including new versions of Magnum P.I. The original series, while only lasting for three seasons, is instantly memorable to anyone who watched it due to the cheesy theme song "Believe It Or Not", which even earned a spot in the U.S. charts.
