Suspicious white powder sends Donald Trump Jr's wife to hospital

Vanessa Trump, the wife of Donald Trump Jr and daughter-in-law of the President of the United States, has been rushed to hospital in New York City after reportedly opening an envelope addressed to her husband that contained a mysterious white powder. In a report that will feel like déjà vu to anyone sentient in the weeks following 9/11, Trump is said to have opened a piece of mail that contained a white powder.

We are investigating the case with law enforcement partners, The Secret Service confirmed in a statement.

A police department spokesman says a preliminary test of the powder indicated it wasn't unsafe.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said the President had spoken with his daughter-in-law on Monday afternoon.

The suspicious letter was sent to Trump Jr.'s apartment in Manhattan this morning, police said. Two other people who were also exposed to the powder were taken to the hospital.

U.S. media reported the letter contained white powder.

Vanessa Trump, a former model, and Donald Trump Jr have five children, none of whom were home at the time of the incident.

Ivanka Trump also shared a tweet commiserating with Vanessa, while also condemning the act.

The letter had a Boston postmark and was addressed Trump Jr., a source told ABC News. No one deserves to be frightened this way.

Junior tweeted, "thinking of Vanessa today and wishing I was by her side". I appreciate all the quick response to make sure that I was safe!

The agency did not specifically mention Trump Jr. or his family.
