Iran willing to relax visa norms, share oil and gas with India

Iranian President Hassan Rouhani meets President Ramnath Kovind and Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhavan. The two sides are also looking to ink a number of pacts in several key areas. Addressing people at the Makkah Masjid after offering Friday prayers, he talked about "unity against western powers" and praised India for "peaceful coexistence" of people of different religions. It is ready to share its energy resources for the development and progress of India and the Chabahar seaport will benefit Afghanistan and Central Asia.

Under an agreement, India is to invest $85 million for equipping Chabahar port in south-east Iran.

India has also expressed interest in the Farzad-B gas field, and sources told PTI that there were commercial discussions on to find a "win-win" solution.

"Iran is willing to further simplify visa procedure (for Indians) and I am hopeful the Indian government, too, will look into it for better relations between the people of India and Iran". He will also deliver a speech at the Observer Research Foundation later in the day.

Earlier in the day, he visited the historic Qutub Shahi tombs complex here.

Rouhani said India and Iran were the cradles of the great Asian civilization. This is the first Presidential visit since 2003 although it is President Rouhani's second visit.

The project for restoration of the over 400-year-old complex started in 2013 after the Aga Khan Trust for Culture signed a memorandum of understanding with Telangana Department of Archaeology and Museums.
