Anfernee McLemore suffers season-ending injury in loss at SC

Auburn suffered a loss much bigger than a game with 1:23 left in the half.

Auburn was trailing, 45-23, at the time of McLemore's injury.

Auburn fell to SC, 84-75, on Saturday afternoon, but the loss is of little importance to the Tigers right now.

The Auburn Tigers will take on the South Carolina Gamecocks in one of the NCAA basketball games on Saturday, start time at 3:30 PM ET, at Colonial Live Arena, Columbia, South Carolina.

Chris Silva chipped in an 14-point, 11-rebound double-double, while Wesley Myers came off the bench to add 13 points for SC (14-13, 5-10 SEC) before fouling out. Instead, the Gamecocks used a 21-1 run in the first half on the way to a 37-11 lead.

Auburn made a strong run in the second half getting within five points with 6:58 left, but SC answered with a 7-0 run as the Tigers missed their next five shot attempts and committed three turnovers over the next four minutes.

On Jan. 24, 2017, Auburn walked into the halftime locker room with a 48-27 deficit but the only difference Saturday was what has been a noticeable second-half comeback trend by this 2017-18 Tigers team. Murray leads in rebounds with 7.0 while Harper tops in assists with 6.0 per game. Chuma Okeke added 11 points and a team-high nine rebounds off the bench.

Next up for Auburn is a home matchup against Alabama Wednesday night. Brown, the Tigers' leading scorer this season, was held to 10 points (six fewer than his average) on 3-of-16 shooting.

COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Frank Booker scored 19 points, and SC built a 26-point lead before holding on to defeat No. 10 Auburn 84-75 on Saturday, ending the Gamecocks' six-game losing streak.
