Lindsey Vonn responds to Twitter trolls after failing to medal at Olympics

"Ice Prince" Yuzuru Hanyu clinched the first back-to-back men's Olympic figure skating titles in 66 years on Saturday as snowboarder Ester Ledecka pulled off an unbelievable shock by skiing to women's super-G gold. "I didn't really expect this would happen so soon on skis". "I didn't really expect this would happen so soon on skis".

Olympic officials hailed snowboarder Ester Ledecka's fairytale ski win as "immense" on Sunday and said they had no problem with her wearing goggles at her press conference.

Ledecka, who is the only athlete in Pyeongchang competing in both skiing and snowboarding, will be a favourite in snowboard parallel giant slalom on Saturday.

Ledecka was so unprepared to win a medal that she hadn't worn makeup.

-Ledecka used Shiffrin's skis for the historic run. She has a very good record at world championships.

Going first during her Super-G race prevented her from seeing how other skiers reacted to problem areas on the course. After all, she waited eight years and fought through a series of injuries to return to the Olympics. Ledecka blew them all away with a consistent run down the hill to post a winning time of one minute, 21.11 seconds.

Ledecka, who had never been among the top three finishers of a World Cup ski race in her life, might be the most delightfully improbable gold medalist since Mike Eurizione and his teammates on the 1980 USA hockey team. If they don't like me (shrug emoji) their loss I guess.

Lindsey Vonn did not collect a medal in the women's super-G Friday night, and that news actually made some Americans excited on Twitter.

Vonn's disappointing performance was met with glee by some in the United States who did not take kindly to her comments saying that she would not visit Trump's White House if she won a medal. I just saw my mum, we were watching each other, we didn't understand. She just raced her damn heart out & Trump supporters gloat/cheer/celebrate her inability to medal.

Marit Bjoergen equalled her compatriot Ole Einar Bjoerndalen as the most decorated athlete in Games history as she anchored Norway to victory in the 4x5km cross country relay. "She beat me in training in Lake Louise - that was also surprising". "Maybe you should have focused on your sport more instead of foolishly bashing our American President right before the Olympics.", the user tweeted. "After the first run I wasn't sure whether I was going to be able to finish the race because my chest infection was so bad I was struggling to breathe and I got here only with the help of my team".
