KFC forced to close restaurants after running out of chicken

KFC last week switched its delivery contract from Bidvest to DHL.

In an update on its website it listed around 270 United Kingdom and Ireland restaurants, out of a total of 900, that were open on Sunday night.

In a statement, a KFC spokesperson said: 'We deliver fresh chicken to our restaurants, but we're having a few hiccups with our delivery system at the moment.

The statement further read: "We won't compromise on quality, so several of our restaurants in the United Kingdom are either closed, have a reduced menu, or shortened hours over the weekend. We are working with our partners to rectify the situation as a priority and apologise for any inconvenience", DHL said in an official statement.

The issues are affecting the company nationwide with many Hampshire outlets also closed today. Fried chicken fans were left disappointed after DHL suffered "operational issues" in chicken supply.

One said: "Drove to two separate @KFC_UKI to find one had no chicken and one was closed". What even is my luck?

A third added: "KFC in both Cheshire Oakes and Chester Greyhound Park are closed because. they're out of chicken".

Catterick KFC is one of many across the country which has been forced to close after running out of food.

TAKE NOTE How long have you got before the old £10 expires?

It's not the first time that a chain has been in hot water over deliveries.
