Red Bull launches new-look F1 auto earlier than usual

The Milton Keynes-based squad retains an unchanged driver line-up of Daniel Ricciardo and Max Verstappen for the upcoming season as it aims to produce a sustained F1 world title charge having claimed a total of three race wins and 13 podiums last season on its way to third place in the world constructors' championship.

Formula One team Red Bull today unveiled a new look for 2018 - shunning a traditional approach to show their hand as close to the season start as possible.

Fans will be able to see the RB14 out on track before the tests begin in Barcelona as Red Bull has opted for a filming day at Silverstone this week.

Ricciardo, who is out of contract at the end of the upcoming campaign, won the Azerbaijan Grand Prix past year, while Verstappen claimed victories at two of the final six rounds in Malaysia and Mexico.

Red Bull's racing cars have featured the same colour scheme from all their brands, with two bulls in red on a yellow background. Aston Martin has prominent branding on the temporary livery, as it becomes Red Bull's title sponsor in 2018 having made a decision to step up its involvement in F1. The vehicle will be shaken down by Ricciardo at Silverstone on Monday, using one of the team's "allocated" filming days'.

"Some years it's hard for the casual viewer to differentiate the new vehicle from the old: that isn't going to be a problem this time around", said Red Bull, who launched their auto earlier than in the past.

Red Bull has unveiled its auto for the 2018 season, the RB14. "It's preferable to finish the auto early and deal with any snags now, when the vehicle is on a track a short drive from the factory, rather than using up one of our eight ultra-precious test days doing the same at the Circuit de Catalunya".
