Gas Prices Drop 6.4 Cents In Chattanooga

AAA Northeast's weekly survey shows the average price of a gallon of self-serve, regular in MA is $2.50. And Batavia has an average price of $2.68 per gallon, which is down just one cent.

Locally, the website Monday shows gas prices in International Falls ranging from $2.34 per gallon to $2.59 per gallon.

If the projections hold true, AAA says drivers across the country and across the state will be paying the highest gas prices since 2014 - but not almost as high as the peak prices that year which, here in Pennsylvania, was $3.81.

While gas prices in Pennsylvania have dipped a little lately, AAA is projecting a spike in prices in the next few weeks. "AAA expects gas prices will shoot up 20 to 30 cents between March and May as refineries conduct seasonal maintenance and switch to summer-blend gasoline".

AAA Northeast's Director of Public and Legislative Affairs Mary Maguire said the downturn in prices looks to be a result of quicker refinery maintenance turnarounds and an increase in USA crude oil inventories and production.

Georgia gas prices declined for the past 16 consecutive days, falling a total of 9 cents, the club said.

Nebraska's average price a month ago was $2.54, and a year ago it was $2.33.

The state's lowest prices are in Flint at two-34, while Marquette drivers are paying two-67 for the state's highest average. "Refinery maintenance season is fast approaching".

Experts at say it's a positive trend that may continue as prices continue to catch up the decline in crude oil prices. Even though there was considerable growth two weeks ago, domestic oil and gasoline inventories are down, compared to this time previous year, by 18.5 percent and 4 percent respectively. AAA advocates for the safety and mobility of its members and has been committed to outstanding road service for more than 100 years.
