Horror round sees Lydia Ko crash out of contention at LPGA Thailand

Jutanugarn held the lead overnight but a second-round 69 was only good enough to see her finish the day seven shots back.

Thompson, who went on a birdie barrage, with six during an eight-hole run, posted a 68 instead of the 66 she believed she had scored, thanks to a double bogey-6 on the par-4 15th at Siam Country Club.

Playing her first tournament since having jaw surgery, the American fired eight birdies and finished with an eagle to move to 16 under par at the halfway point, a 36-hole record for the event.

Korda, who has 27 screws holding together her jaw, has dealt with a lot over the a year ago, but is in position to chase her first win on Tour since 2015.

"I just tried to have fun and didn't have any expectation".

She shared 16th place with former top-ranked Lydia Ko of New Zealand, another hope home Pornanong Phatlum and three other players.

Three-time tour victor Minjee Lee of Australia finished with a superb eagle putt to be among the four leaders after day one of the LPGA Thailand at Siam Country Club in Chonburi yesterday.

Minjee Lee (67) is one shot back of Lincicome at 11-under and one up on Lexi Thompson.

Thompson, who won this event in 2016 by six shots with a 20-under total and tied for fourth a year ago, started her latest round in style with an eagle followed by a birdie only to bogey the third hole.

Still, the less-than-ideal off-season-and the 27 screws in her jaw-don't seem to be affecting the 24-year-old's game in the least.

Korda dropped in four consecutive birdies starting at the 13th and closed with a 29 on the back nine.

The "Big Wiezy" will hunt her fifth career win and first since the 2014 U.S. Women's Open.

"I still can't feel anything", she said of her jaw. "Honestly I was just trying to get on the green, get myself a chance". So overall I'm pretty happy with the score today. "It was a pretty cool round".
