Now we're learning more about where law enforcement officers were, and where they weren't, while bullets were flying inside the building. A source familiar with the conversation tells CNN that Goodrum was upset that the Broward deputies had remained outside the school while kids inside could have been bleeding out, among other reasons.

Asked what Peterson should have done when gunfire broke out at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School on February 14, he said gone into the building.

Peterson, the school's armed resource officer, charged with protecting the school, resigned after Israel placed him under investigation after footage at the school showed he never went inside the school as the rampage was unfolding, Israel announced Thursday.

The New York Times reported on Wednesday that an officer from the Coral Springs Police Department who responded to the shooting had seen Peterson in a Stoneman Douglas High parking lot.

Coral Springs Police Department public information officer Sgt. Carla Kmiotek would not comment on what Broward County deputies did or did not do. They quote "Coral Springs sources" who said the three "deputies had their pistols drawn and were behind their vehicles" when Coral Springs officers arrived.

Tapper reported that video from the school campus is being reviewed and a report will be released next week. The Lead anchor said officials have cautioned that the official account could differ from officers' initial recollections, as often happens in these high-stress situations.

"He didn't turn out to be too good, I'll tell you that", Trump said.

Coral Springs police have said they were the first to respond to the shooting.

"Addressed the killer. Killed the killer", Israel said.

"Our police department has continued to work alongside the Broward Sheriff's Office to assist in any investigation pertaining to this incident", the department said later in a statement. Please know that this issue will be addressed, and the truth will come out in time.

More than a week after Cruz roamed the halls armed with an AR-15 rifle, shooting and killing, questions remain on whether law enforcement agencies could have done anything to prevent the massacre.

In a statement, the Broward County School District said its security system footage could be reviewed in both real-time or be rewound to see events that were previously recorded.

Among the topics being probed, according to Israel, are allegations made by officers from another department that they saw other Broward sheriff's deputies - not just Peterson - still waiting outside as the shooting occurred.
