Music has no boundaries: Rahat Fateh Ali Khan on Babul Supriyo's comments

My intention was never to hurt any sentiments but after having a word with Babulji, I promised that we won't work with Pakistani artists until the relationship between the two countries improve'. In the meantime, composer Shamir Tandon has defended why his voice was used in the film.

Talking about "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", with which the issue of banning Pakistani artists rose, Babul said, "During the time of "Ae Dil Hai Mushkil", I took a stand in support of the makers and had to face a lot wrath for that".

Earlier this week, singer-turned-Union minister Babul Supriyo had asked Khan's voice in the song Ishtehaar from Welcome To New York to be removed and dubbed by someone else. "Why were these songs not pulled up for using Pakistani voices, while mine has?" he was quoted as saying. In a press conference held on Wednesday evening, Sure Amin, CEO of the council said, "Why do we need to rope in Pakistani artists when Hindi film industry has no dearth of talent". "Because most of those are cover versions and mine is an original?" he added.

"We made this song around 8-9 months ago".

The movie is produced by Pooja Films and Wiz Films with Music by Pooja Music, "Welcome To New York" releases worldwide on February 23. Supriyo meanwhile maintained that he's not speaking on behalf of any of the fringe groups and it is his own opinion that "We have been magnanimous enough all these years towards Pakistani artists".

"No writer, actor, thinker, singer, philosopher or filmmaker can be compared to a soldier who takes the flying bullets in his chest so that we can stay being a free country".

Supriyo said at a time when soldiers are dying at the border, there should be an initiative from within the Bollywood that no Pakistani will be allowed to work in India as long as their nation indulged in terror activities.

"Welcome To New York" is an upcoming Indian 3D comedy film, directed by Chakri Toleti, produced by Vashu Bhagnani and Jackky Bhagnani, starring Diljit Dosanjh, Sonakshi Sinha, Karan Johar, Riteish Deshmukh, Lara Dutta and Boman Irani.
