Octopath Traveler Releasing July 13 With Slick Special Edition

If you're a fan of Square Enix's RPGs that aren't necessarily Final Fantasy, then you might have heard that a year ago, the company announced that they would be launching a new RPG called Octopath Traveler.

Today Square also unveiled two new characters. Her special skill grants her the ability to talk to townspeople and collect special items. His motivation is to heal all those he comes across during his adventure. Meanwhile, Alfyn's "Inquire" ability allows him to gain more in-depth information from people he speaks with, which can reveal handy tips such as local discounts.

After launching a demo early on in the Switch's life (still available on the Nintendo Switch eShop) Octopath Traveler will launch on July 13.

We also learn that every character starts with its own job, but they can acquire a second to use in battle. Jobs can be combined to expand strategic options.

Another interesting announcement for those who have their eyes on collectibles was the game's special edition, or the "Wayfarer's Edition".

A special edition, called the Compendium Edition, will launch alongside the Standard edition and includes the game, a pop-up book, a map of Orsterra and a replica coin (no soundtrack in Europe). Which edition do you plan on buying?
