Fortnite announces cross-platform play sans Xbox One and PS4

Fortnite announces cross-platform play sans Xbox One and PS4

The pair of announcements detailed cross-platform play between the PlayStation 4, Mobile, and PC.

In a happy incident back in September past year, a bug in the game caused players from Xbox One and PS4 play together.

Xbox One will support cross-play with Fortnite: Battle Royale Mobile.

Are you excited for this change?

Earlier this week, Epic Games announced cross-play and cross-progression between the PlayStation 4, Mac, iOS, and eventually the Android when it's released. Unfortunately, Sony remained stern with its reluctance to allow cross-play with the PlayStation 4 as it previously did with "Rocket League" and "Minecraft".

The content and the novelties of "Fornite" do not seem to have limits since it implemented its successful Battle Royale mode.

Epic Games made quite a few waves this past week, announcing its hit game Fortnite for mobile platforms, along with the potential for crossplay. This was promptly shut down by developers Epic who said it was a mistake. While Mac is still considered to be PC and iOS mobile, there's no doubt here that even Apple, Microsoft's biggest competitor, is willing to do cross-platform play with its rivals.

PlayStation 4 players can play with PC, Mac, and mobile. We've been working together with them over the last several months to make this possible, and will bring this functionality to Fortnite players on Xbox right along with other platforms'.

And now, since the publication of the blog and not mentioning Xbox in the cross-platform list, Microsoft has confirmed that Xbox One users will be able to participate in the cross-platform games. Of course, Epic Games has not specified when this new feature will come into force, but hopefully it does not make you beg too.
