OnePlus 5T gets Android 8.1 Oreo beta, gaming mode and more

OnePlus has just published a new open beta for the OnePlus 5 and 5T smartphones.

Apart from the change in the software version and Android patch level, the differences in Open Beta 4 (for the OnePlus 5T) and Open Beta 6 (for the OnePlus 5) are functional and related to the Oxygen OS overlay. That update included features adopted straight from the iPhone X including the swipe up to exit app and multi-tasking through gestures. While nothing major has been announced in this update beyond the actual software version, users will nonetheless welcome the quick and regular software updates issued by OnePlus.

OnePlus has been releasing newer flagship smartphones every year and the company made its name in the very first year when the company launched its first smartphone named as the OnePlus One which was available on an invite-based system which also helped market the smartphone more and more. However, if you are already on a Beta build, then the device will receive an OTA update. Now this is a beta, which means you do need to update to the company's open beta program to get updated to Android Oreo. Users can now pick calls by raising the phone to their ears.

The new update also includes optimised full-screen gesture support on the OnePlus 5T, along with an update to Android security patch for the month of February 2018. They have also added more clock styles for ambient display.

Additional innovative optimizations for hypnotic gaming involvement such as blocking the notifications, resting adaptive illumination and power saving. There's also a new "global roaming solution", however OnePlus has not detailed what this solution might be. The update brings some cool features to the already interesting smartphone.

OnePlus Switch has also got support for migrating application data which further eases switching between devices.

With the update in its fourth beta, we can expect the stable version to be out soon.
