Teen Gets College Scholarship After Random Act of Kindness

"Somebody tagged me and it immediately, it just touched my heart", he said. Mayor Bobby Hocking presented a proclamation to 18-year-old Evoni Williams at her Waffle House location.

"Evoni always has a smile on her face", said Waffle House manager Mundarius Wright.

A teenager from Houston, Texas, was honored for her act of kindness after she took the time to help an elderly patron in need at the La Marque Waffle House, the restaurant she works at. Meanwhile, another customer who was moved by her kindness made a decision to snap a photo.

"I'm thankful to have seen this act of kindness and caring at the start of my day while everything in this work seems so negative".

"My hands are not up to par", Charpentier told KVUE.

That picture went viral and inspired countless others, leading one university to grant Williams a scholarship, KVUE-TV reported. Williams' act also caught the eye of Texas Southern University, which surprised her at the proclamation with a scholarship totaling $16,000 - $4,000 for each of four semesters. "That just meant something to me", Wolf said in an interview.

Wolf told KHOU, "It was so busy in here, and she actually took the time to stop and hear what he had to say instead of walking past him".

"I have my own day!" As way of thanks and showing his gratitude for Evoni's kindness, he declared March 8 2018 as Evoni "Nini" Williams Day.

Even better? Folks at Texas Southern University aren't the only ones paying attention to Evoni.
