Buffalo Bills, DT Star Lotulelei agree to five-year deal

Soon after Sean McDermott shuffled off to Buffalo previous year, he looked to a few familiar friends for some help. Bills coach Sean McDermott was Carolina's defensive coordinator for the first four seasons of Lotulelei's career. "He meant a lot to me this past season in the way of connecting my message to the locker room at different points throughout the year so the leadership part of that was big for us".

Defensive tackle Star Lotulelei agreed to a five-year deal with the Buffalo Bills, according to multiple reports.

Lotulelei, who was drafted by the Panthers with the No. 14 overall pick in 2013, became a free agent after playing last season under a fifth-year team option on his rookie contract. "At 6'2" and 315 pounds, however, the Utah product is a prototypical run-stuffer and space-eater in the middle of the line.

Lotulelei, in addition to helping propel the Panthers to Super Bowl 50 in 2016, finishes his stint in Carolina with 141 combined tackles, 11.5 sacks and two forced fumbles.
