Danny Amendola reportedly will sign with Dolphins

Amendola will be joining a slightly revamped Dolphins receiving corps which also includes the recently-signed Albert Wilson as well as holdovers Kenny Stills and DeVante Parker.

New England Patriots receiver Danny Amendola is expected to sign with the Miami Dolphins, NFL Network reports.

Last season, Amendola caught 61 passes for 659 yards and scored two touchdowns.

The wide receiver has spent the last five seasons with the Patriots.

Past year he caught 61 passes for 659 yards for New England. After battling injuries early in his tenure in New England, Amendola developed into one of the most clutch players in franchise history. The Patriots made efforts to conserve his snap counts to keep him healthy for the postseason, and it paid off in 2014 and 2016.

However, it's far more likely that a big part of the success that stemmed from the Welker move was one Peyton Manning. For the Patriots, the hope is that Amendola's departure doesn't come back to haunt them in a future playoff game.

Amendola is also an experienced return specialist, which could mean he'll push receiver/returner Jakeem Grant for his role. They obviously value the competitiveness, toughness, and character that he adds to their locker room.
