Me, my sister Priyanka have 'completely forgiven' our father's killers: Rahul

Chennai: The state unit of the BJP took strong exception to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's "mess with the wrong forces" remark and also for saying he has completely forgiven his father's killers, and said if the Congress really had sympathy for the Tamils during the ethnic war and expressed it then, this action could have prevented the killing of lakhs of innocent Tamils by the then Sri Lankan government.

He said that if he were the Prime Minister and someone had given him the file with demonetisation written on it, he would thrown it into the dustbin, out of the door or into the junkyard.

Gandhi was speaking in Malaysia, while on the second leg of his five-day Southeast Asian tour during which he has attacked the Narendra Modi government on a number of occasions.

Rahul is on a three day visit to Singapore and Malaysia, seen as efforts to increase his outreach to the NRI community, after the success of his recent visits to the U.S. and Bahrain. Earlier at the University of California, Berkeley, the Congress president had said that Modi had caused "tremendous damage" to India's economy with his "reckless and dangerous" decisions like demonetisation and "hastily-applied" GST.

On November 8, 2016, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that currency notes of Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 would cease to be legal +. I don't think that's a privilege. He also had an enthusiastic assembly of the Indian diaspora in Kuala Lumpur. To remove that bias, giving equality to women is not good enough.

Asserting that Indian society and its freedoms were under "systematic and sustained assault", former Congress chief Sonia Gandhi said the party would not allow the NDA to come back to power in the 2019 polls.

Originally a part of the AICC until 1946, the MIC has played a major role in the Malaysian Independence Movement.

"I thought Dr Manmohan Singh would be a better Prime Minister than myself".

Gandhi's foreign trips are to bond with the diaspora.

Pitroda had earlier successfully organised Rahul Gandhi's visits to the U.S. and West Asia.
