Mike Pence Says He Forgave Joy Behar for Religious "Insult"

Mike Pence Says He Forgave Joy Behar for Religious

During a discussion of Pence on the daytime talk show last month, Behar said, "it's one thing to talk to Jesus". "She was very honest, and she apologized and one of the things my faith teaches me is grace; forgive as you've been forgiven", he added. "It's another thing when Jesus talks to you", Behar said.

When former White House staffer and reality show star Omarosa Manigault spoke of Pence on her new show "Big Brother", she alleged that the vice president heard the voice of Jesus.

Last week, Disney CEO Bob Iger told company shareholders that Behar had called Pence to apologize.

After receiving backlash from conservative viewers however, Behar privately called Pence to apologize for her remarks.

"So I think Vice President Pence is right".

The vice president concluded his answer by saying that he hoped Behar "and others on the airwaves will come to appreciate the meaning and, if I could say it, the joy that comes from faith and respect that".

"It's an insult not to me, but to the vast majority of the American people who like me cherish their faith", he said. "She picked up the phone".

"What do you say to the tens of millions of Christians, and President Trump supporters, that your networks have so blatantly offended and ascribed hateful labels?" shareholder Justin Danhof asked Iger.

"I said to Joy, 'Of course, I forgive you".

The controversial remarks were made on "The View" by Behar on February 13.

But Pence said he encouraged Behar to go further. "She made a call to him and apologized, which I thought was absolutely appropriate". "It is simply wrong for ABC to have a television program that expresses that kind of religious intolerance".

Iger responded by saying, "I don't know where I start". Today, we begin round 5 (?) of this story with an interview with Mike Pence set to air on Hannity tonight.

The apology was reportedly confirmed by Fox News.

A day after her initial joke, Behar attempted to clarify her comments on the air.
