Mourinho savages 'worst manager' De Boer

Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho says Frank de Boer is the "worst manager in Premier League history" and Marcus Rashford would "lose every game" if he played under the Dutchman.

Manchester United's English striker Marcus Rashford scores the opening goal during the English Premier League match between Manchester United and Liverpool at Old Trafford in Manchester, March 10, 2018.

Mourinho went on to credit United's academy staff and his predecessor Louis van Gaal for their role in Rashford's development and insisted the player remains in safe hands under his own leadership.

"If you go to his numbers and how many games he played with me".

De Boer was sacked by the Eagles in September after losing his first four Premier League matches without so much as mustering a goal, let alone a point. "But he's so talented and you want to see him play every week".

Meanwhile, Man Utd's French forward Anthony Martial is fit for the club's Champions League round 16, second-leg, game at home to Sevilla.

Frank De Boer's words come across as unusual due to the reality of the situation as Jose's love for the youngster has been publicly stated multiple times. Where he was saying that it is not good for Marcus Rashford to have a coach like me because the most important thing for me is to win. I try to give the best to the kid. "No, of course not but he's a player we trust and I told him that before the Liverpool match", added Mourinho.

The midfielder - who surprisingly started the goalless first leg on the bench in Spain - was injured on the eve of the Liverpool clash and was conspicuous by his absence from the section of training open to the media on Monday.

The former Dutch global had praised Rashford and said it was a "pity" that he plays for Mourinho, who only cares about results, and not a manager who would continue to play him even if he has a bad game or two. "Analysing a performance for me is more than number of goals or assists, and for me I'm really happy with Marcus". "I think we're not one of the best teams in the competition but when a team arrives in the last eight, anything can happen", he said.
