Oprah: Parkland School Activists Remind Her of Civil Rights Icons

American President Donald Trump has recently stated in public that he would be more than happy to go against media and entertainment mogul Oprah Winfrey, if she decides to run two years from now.

He tweeted. "Hope Oprah runs so she can be exposed and defeated just like all of the others!" "That would be a painful experience for her".

On the night, she became the first black woman to win the Cecil Mille Award.

During an appearance Sunday on CNN's "The Van Jones Show," Winfrey offered advice on surviving the "darkness" of political polarization in America under the current president, as she suggested everyone "stay in the light" of positivity. Winfrey told Jones she was impressed with the confidence and bravery of the student shooting survivors from Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School for speaking out for gun control.

"My grandfather took in people from the Freedom Riders in MS and risked his whole family and home", Winfrey said on the show, referring to civil rights activists who were attacked while trying to desegregate public bus transportation in 1961. She continued, "Do not give you energy to that which you don't believe in".

She further added, " Do not spend all your time talking about your opponents.
