Solar energy: more and more projects with zero support

These solar parks are being set up by Lucknow Solar Park Development Corporation (LSPDC) which is a joint venture of Solar Energy Corporation of India (SECI) and UP New and Renewable Energy Development Agency (UPNEDA) under UP Government. It received almost $1.3 million in funding through Governor Cuomo's $1 billion NY-Sun initiative, which is building a self-sustaining solar industry in New York State.

The Sullivan County project is owned by Delaware River Solar.

The governor's office says the facility in Callicoon is expected to cut energy bills for more than 350 homes and businesses.

The company's 1.6 GW of solar power by 2021 includes residential, community solar and larger projects.

As part of the new agreement, the ISA will support the African Development Bank's Desert to Power solar initiative to turn Africa's deserts into new sources of energy.

The goal is to develop 10,000 megawatts (MW) of solar power systems across the Sahel to provide electricity to 250 million people, 90 million of them, on off-grid systems. The summit is meant to encourage cooperation between countries that have a strong interest in clean power and combating climate change in the coming years.

"We believe the future is a clean energy economy and NY is going to lead a counter-movement to what this administration is doing to the environment and illuminate the path forward", Cuomo said as he commented on the government's oil and gas strategy.

The declaration lays out areas of deeper cooperation between ISA and the Bank, including developing innovative financial instruments to reduce risks and costs associated with solar investments and to leverage climate financing and commercial co-financing and mobilizing concessional financing through the Sustainable Energy Fund for Africa (SEFA) and other Bank-hosted funds. "This is a hometown success in every respect, and I'm thrilled to witness its debut".

Vectren Energy Delivery of IN and First Solar announced that Vectren has selected First Solar to build the 50-MW solar array outlined last month as part of Vectren's long-term electric generation transition plan. REV is ensuring NY reduces statewide greenhouse gas emissions 40 percent by 2030 and achieves the internationally recognized target of reducing emissions 80 percent by 2050.
